Cityscape
Cityscape is an out-of-school time program that serves 5th - 8th grade students who attend the Barre City Elementary and Middle School. Cityscape began in 1995 and has served approximately 350 young people each year.
Cityscape offers a variety of activities during the after-school and summer hours that are designed to enhance academic achievement, substance abuse prevention, and healthy choices.
Cityscape activities have included Cross-Country Skiing; Maple Sugaring; Gardening; Gourmet Cooking; Outdoor Living Skills; Granite Etching; Japanese Fabric Dyeing; Exploring Shipwrecks; Aeronautics & Aviation; Basketball; Hip Hop Dancing, Bicycle Repair; Dinner Theater; Canoeing; Tae Kwon Do; Mountain Biking; Ice Skating; Puppet Theater; Star Gazing and much more!
In addition to its exciting roster of special activities, numerous ongoing activities are provided. Those include: Homework Help; Open Art Studio; Math Club; Reading Club; and "Your Space Your Place" youth center for 7th and 8th graders.
Cityscape is funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant from the Vermont Department of Education, and by a Drug Free Communities grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
