Vermont School Age Care Network (VSACN)
The Vermont School Age Care Network (VSACN) is dedicated to increasing opportunities for and improving the quality of school age care in Vermont.
School age care is provided to children in grades K-6 during out-of-school hours. Registered or licensed caregivers provide care in a multitude of settings. While the surroundings may change, all quality programs share the following:
- A safe and nurturing environment
- A respectful and trained staff
- A variety of available age-appropriate activities
- A dedication to meeting the community's needs
- An availability of healthy, nutritious snacks
- A commitment to communicate with parents
VSACN members receive valuable services such as networking opportunities, technical assistance, and professional development. VSACN recognizes that providing quality care takes time and dedication, and strives to make it easier for its members to accomplish that.
VSACN offers:
- Technical Support: such as curriculum and programming assistance; assistance to help meet state licensing requirements and national accreditation; information on funding sources; grant writing support; and help in building relationships with community groups, businesses, and policymakers.
- Training Workshops: VSACN members receive registration discounts for the annual School Age Care Conference, and special opportunities to attend workshops, trainings, or special events sponsored by VSACN.
- Accreditation Assistance: VSACN can help members take the steps toward accreditation by the National School-Age Care Alliance. VSACN can assist with self-study and grants for accreditation fees.
