Vermont Youth Tomorrow A*VISTA Program
The Vermont Youth Tomorrow A*VISTA Program (VYT) is administered by the Bureau, and is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service. VYT places approximately 20 A*VISTA members each year in youth-focused programs throughout the state of Vermont.
A*VISTA members are placed in schools and at community-based and state-wide non-profit host agencies, and assist their host agency in expanding healthy, enriching activities for youth. The service of A*VISTA members is designed to accomplish one or more of the following objectives:
· To expand the capacity of communities to develop and sustain effective out-of-school time programs for young people
· To strengthen the operating systems of out-of-school time programs by building volunteer systems, designing data systems, instituting program documentation procedures, refining program operating systems, or improving the quality of services
· To increase financial and in-kind resources available to out-of-school time programs
· To increase youth participation in out-of-school time programs, with a special focus on meeting the needs of youths who have limited economic means and other support
· To increase the coordination of out-of-school time programs with other appropriate community resources
· To increase community commitment to and involvement in out-of-school time programs
